1. General Procedures for Consignment and Carriage
  • Step 1: Understand the nature of the station to check if there are any restrictions on the goods to be consigned.

  • Step 2: Apply for a transportation plan. There are two forms of plan application: monthly plan and daily plan.

  • Step 3: Deliver goods. After the plan is approved, a request can be made to the station for cargo space. Goods can be delivered once permission is granted.

  • Step 4: Apply for wagon allocation. When goods are ready, submit a completed waybill for each wagon according to the approved monthly and daily plans to apply for daily wagon allocation.

  • Step 5: Loading. Once empty wagons are delivered to the loading location, the station should organize loading promptly. For shipper-organized loading, the shipper should also make timely arrangements to ensure fast and safe loading.

  • Step 6: Transportation. After wagons are loaded, the railway transport department should promptly arrange for coupling to ensure goods reach the destination station as soon as possible.

2. China-Europe Railway Express Routes
  • 2.1 China-Europe Railway Express (Chongqing ~ Duisburg)

    Originating from Chongqing Tuanjiecun Station, exiting through Alashankou, passing through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Poland to Duisburg Station, Germany. The total distance is approximately 11,000 km with a travel time of about 15 days. The main cargo consists of locally produced IT products, and since 2014, it has attracted other cargo from surrounding areas exported to Europe. The first train departed on March 19, 2011. By August 1, 2014, a total of 114 trains had been operated, including 22 in 2014.

  • 2.2 China-Europe Railway Express (Chengdu ~ Lodz)

    Originating from Chengdu Chengxiang Station, exiting through Alashankou, passing through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus to Lodz Station, Poland. The total distance is 9,965 km with a travel time of about 14 days. The main cargo consists of locally produced IT products and other export goods. The first train departed on April 26, 2013. By August 1, 2014, a total of 58 trains had been operated, including 26 in 2014.

  • 2.3 China-Europe Railway Express (Zhengzhou ~ Hamburg)

    Originating from Zhengzhou Putian Station, exiting through Alashankou, passing through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Poland to Hamburg Station, Germany. The total distance is 10,245 km with a travel time of about 15 days. The cargo mainly comes from central and eastern provinces such as Henan, Shandong, Zhejiang, and Fujian, including tires, high-end clothing, stationery, and handicrafts. The first train departed on July 18, 2013. By December 17, 2014, a total of 92 trains had been operated, carrying 42,600 tons of goods worth approximately 455 million USD, including 33,700 tons in 2014 worth 405 million USD.

  • 2.4 China-Europe Railway Express (Suzhou ~ Warsaw)

    Originating from Suzhou, exiting through Manzhouli, passing through Russia, Belarus to Warsaw Station, Poland. The total distance is 11,200 km with a travel time of about 15 days. The cargo includes laptops, tablets, LCD screens, hard drives, and chips from Suzhou and surrounding areas. The first train departed on September 29, 2013. By August 1, 2014, a total of 16 trains had been operated, including 15 in 2014.

  • 2.5 China-Europe Railway Express (Wuhan ~ Czech Republic, Poland)

    Originating from Wuhan Wujiashan Station, exiting through Alashankou, passing through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus to Poland, Czech Republic and other relevant cities. The total distance is approximately 10,700 km with a travel time of about 15 days. The main cargo consists of laptops and other consumer electronics produced in Wuhan, as well as other goods from surrounding areas. The first train departed on October 24, 2012. By August 1, 2014, a total of 10 trains had been operated, including 9 in 2014.

  • 2.6 China-Europe Railway Express (Changsha ~ Duisburg)

    Originating from Changsha Xianning Freight Yard, implementing a "one main, two auxiliary" operation route. The "main route" runs from Changsha to Duisburg, Germany, exiting through Alashankou, passing through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Germany. The total distance is 11,808 km with a travel time of 18 days, first operated on October 30, 2012. The two auxiliary routes: one exits through Horgos to Tashkent, Uzbekistan (6,146 km, 11 days); the other exits through Erenhot (or Manzhouli) to Moscow, Russia (8,047 km or 10,090 km, 13 or 15 days).

  • 2.7 China-Europe Railway Express (Yiwu ~ Madrid)

    Originating from Yiwu Railway West Station, as an important part of China-Europe Railway Express, the Yiwu-Madrid route runs through the New Silk Road Economic Belt. From Yiwu Railway West Station to Madrid, Spain, exiting through Alashankou, passing through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Germany, France, Spain. The total distance is 13,052 km with a travel time of about 21 days. The first Yiwu-Madrid train had 41 carriages carrying 82 standard containers, totaling over 550 meters, departing in late morning on November 18, 2014. It is currently the longest train service in China's history, passing through the most cities and countries with the most rail gauge changes overseas.

  • 2.8 China-Europe Railway Express (Harbin ~ Russia)

    On February 28, 2015, a container freight train loaded with oil exploration equipment departed from Harbin Xiangfang Railway Station, arriving at Bickliang Railway Station in central Russia 10 days later. This marked the official launch of the first China-Europe Railway Express from Heilongjiang, China's northernmost province, which would become a new engine for deepening all-round exchanges and cooperation with Russia and promoting opening-up in Heilongjiang's border areas.

    The total distance is 6,578 km, traveling 1,004 km via the Binzhou Railway to Manzhouli Port, then 5,574 km via Russia's Trans-Siberian Railway to Bickliang Station. Using international railway freight trains, transportation from Heilongjiang to central Russia costs about three-quarters less than air freight, with delivery time shortened by over two-thirds and costs reduced by over 25% compared to ordinary scattered transportation.

  • 2.9 China-Europe Railway Express (Harbin ~ Hamburg)

    The preparatory meeting of Harbin-Europe International Logistics Co., Ltd. was held on the morning of the 25th. To achieve the goal proposed by Heilongjiang Provincial Party Committee in the economic work conference of "utilizing the Manzhouli-Suifenhe railway corridor to create a new 'Silk Road' from Heilongjiang to Russia and European hinterland", Heilongjiang Province introduced Beijing Changjiu International Logistics Co., Ltd., U.S. UTI International Logistics Group, Dalian Port Group and Harbin Railway Bureau to jointly operate the Harbin-Europe Railway Express.

    Starting from Harbin, the route goes through Manzhouli, Russia's Zabaikalsk to Chita, then via Russia's Trans-Siberian Railway through Yekaterinburg and Moscow to Malaszewicze, Poland, ending in Hamburg, Germany, with a total distance of 9,820 km. With advantages of "shorter distance, faster speed, lower cost", the Harbin-Europe Railway Express has attracted international attention. Governments of Greater Hamburg Area, Bavaria, and Lower Saxony in Germany have expressed willingness to cooperate with Harbin-Europe Company. Railway operators from France, Switzerland and other countries have also expressed interest in cooperating on the European extension of the Harbin-Europe Railway Express.

  • 2.10 China-Europe Railway Express (Xining ~ Antwerp)

    Xinhua News Agency, Xining, September 8 - On the morning of the 8th, the first China-Europe Railway Express from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau departed from Shuangzhai Railway Logistics Center in Xining, Qinghai Province, heading to Antwerp, Europe's second largest container port in Belgium. The journey takes about 12 days, mainly transporting Qinghai's local characteristic products such as Tibetan carpets and wolfberries.

    Originating from Guangzhou Dalang Station, exiting through Manzhouli directly to Moscow, Russia. The total distance is 11,500 km with 41 40" HQ containers, arriving at the destination in 15 days. Currently operating regularly every week, it provides a more convenient and stable transportation channel for China-Europe foreign trade merchants in the Pearl River Delta region. It also complements the insufficient transportation timeliness of electronic and daily commodities export trade in South China, opening up a safe, efficient and convenient international import and export trade green channel for Chinese goods exported to Europe and European products entering China.
